Whoever started calling it patience Monday never traveled with this group. Thanks to Doug, who began coordinating our projects in October with Craig at BBM, they had three homes targeted for us to work on. By 9:00 we were at the worksites scoping out what needed to be done, and we wound up starting on two of the properties. Because all three houses are on the same street, we can easily keep tabs on each other's progress -- and, as an added bonus, coffee and lunch delivery is a piece of cake. Forbes has an easier job keeping track of the cleanup crew as well.

The house at 228 Bayly needs a new roof, after which the crew will build a deck off the back.

Number 211 is a whole-house renovation, beginning with a thorough cleaning of all the interior walls and ceilings in preparation for repainting; demolition of the kitchen with installation of new cabinets, floor and plumbing; removal and replacement of an old whole-house fan in the attic; removal of vinyl tile and linoleum; replacing all the windows; and demolishing and rebuilding an enclosed back porch.

We were blessed with spectacular weather today. A chilly morning gave way to a high in the mid-sixties under a brilliant blue sky, and the energy was palpable as we attacked our assignments. In fact, it was a little unnerving to see our gentle teammates attack walls and cabinets so vigorously with crowbars and sledge hammers.

Back at BBM, Rita and Geoff had collaborated to prepare a tasty dinner. Despite the energy burned during the day, folks got their second wind after the meal to play rousing games of cards, watch the football game and read. Our week is off to a great start!
